EMDR Therapy stands for “Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing”. It is one of four nationally approved therapies to help resolve trauma and complex trauma. It can also help with many other diagnoses as well. Therapist must hold an extra certification and do specialized continuing education to maintain this credential. Sessions are 53 minutes. While it is possible to potentially resolve an individual trauma in a few sessions, a commitment to therapy is necessary to begin EMDR Therapy and most clients stay long term to resolve multiple issues that ail them.

Therapists of all kinds require supervision after graduating with their Masters degrees to become licensed. Usually a minimum of 2 years and 3,000 is required. If you are seeking LMFT or LCSW licensure, Mike can provide half of your supervision in an individual or group format. If you are seeking LPC supervision, Mike can provide all of your supervision in an individual or group format. All supervision meets State of Pennsylvania Licensing Board requirements.

While all of our therapies are potentially offered in person, some individual counselors only offer or specialize in telehealth therapy. Telehealth rose in popularity in 2020. While most clients and situations can be managed in a telehealth format, not all situations are appropriate. Your therapist will assess your readiness for telehealth and will communicate directly if it is deemed not to be appropriate for your situation. EMDR Therapy can also be offered through telehealth.

Our Process
Schedule an Intake
We gather background information to assess what you need while explaining the process of therapy. We triage any situations that may require it while working with you to formulate a plan. We discuss financial implications of services. And we help you make a commitment to putting in the work necessary to improve your lives. If not already completed, initial paperwork should be signed during your first session.
Build Rapport
Whether you walk in the door confident and ready to go or nervous and unsure how to proceed, our therapists work to set your mind at ease. The first few sessions, an emphasis is placed on making sure we are the right fit for you. Not a fan? We are happy to allow you to try multiple therapists or refer you to other clinicians outside of our practice. We don’t care where you find help. We just want you to find what you are looking for. Don’t settle!
Plan with Purpose
It may not always seem like it, but a lot of care is taken to choose what therapeutic modalities and interventions we use with each client. Each person is unique and each situation is unique. Every one of our therapists have their own particular style, but are well versed in multiple types of therapy. You can schedule knowing that you are truly in the hands of professionals.
Check in Regularly
While we love to see all types of clients and form meaningful professional relationships, therapy is ideally a time limited process. It SHOULD end. Just want to come in and vent and set space in your week for yourself? We won’t stop you! Self care is important. But for many clients, once insight is made, tools are honed, and issues are addressed, it is not uncommon to mutually discuss discharge. Plus, nothing says you can’t come back in the future if the need arises.
